Nutrition and Food

Snacks, drinks, lunches and how we meet dietary needs.

Snacks and drinks

There are no additional charges for snacks, and drinks of milk or water are provided.

Snacks offered include crackers, toast, breadsticks, cheese and a variety of fruits.

Snacks for the week are clearly displayed for you to read by the entrance.

Naturally fruit flavoured water and water is available to the children at all times.

Children can also bring in a drink from home in a clearly marked drinks cup if preferred.

Snack time is offered mid morning and mid afternoon.

Children who arrive before 8.30am are welcome to bring something for breakfast, and milk can be provided for cereals.

Children who stay after 3.30pm are also offered additional snack if required.

Lunches

Children can have a hot school lunch prepared on the school premises at a cost of £2.85 per day, or can bring a packed lunch from home.

Our Policies are clear with regards to the promotion of healthy eating on the premises, children cannot eat sweets or chocolate bars from their lunch box or similar unhealthy options unless a child has a care plan in place.

Nuts or products which contain nuts are not permitted as we have children with allergies.

The older children eat their lunch in the School hall supported by our staff as part of our support for School readiness., and the younger children remain in the Pre-School Unit.

Allergies and dietary requirements

All dietary requirements, allergies and preferences are considered in the snack provided each day, these are discussed and recorded when a child first starts.

Food allergies are taken seriously and where required foods which may cause harm to a child are removed from our snack menus.
